Cultural Institute
The Willis Center Cultural Institute, established in 1997, addresses the
need for including people of color in the cultural arts of Central
Massachusetts.
The Institute broadens the cultural milieu and includes underserved
participants:
- By bringing the arts to those whose opportunities are limited by
ethnicity, geography, or economic constraints
- In using education as an advocacy tool to empower and enlighten
- Through quality, accessible cultural activities for audiences
- Provides opportunities for visual and performing artists
- Advocates for a culturally diverse presence in establishing arts
institutions and venues
The Institute creates and produces cultural arts programs that integrate:
- Education
- Artistic expression
- Community traditions and values
- Collaboration
