Willis Center’s Driver Alcohol Education (DAE) program is licensed by the Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS) to provide psycho-education service to individuals who have been charged with DUI/OUI and are mandated by the courts or RMV to take classes.

Willis Center uses the standardized curriculum recommended by the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services, so the program is similar to programs throughout Massachusetts.
Culturally competent staff work individually with clients who have language barriers, hearing impairments and other difficulties, and work with interpreters when necessary.

The goal of Driver Alcohol Education is to provide education regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs and the effects on driving ability and to increase awareness of societal problems caused by the misuse of alcohol and drugs.
Clients are often reluctant to participate in the program, as they are required to attend. Many find that the DAE program is much more informative and educational than they expected. Some clients find the discussions so helpful that they wish to return to the program a second time.
